Indore: Indoreans on Tuesday celebrated birth anniversary of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar as ‘Indore Gaurav Diwas,’ marking the foundation day of state’s commercial capital. The main event was held at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium which was attended by chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
“A big memorial of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar will be developed in Indore for which a trust will be set up headed by former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan,” Chouhan said
“An under-construction 1,500 seater auditorium costing Rs 24 crore in Rajendra Nagar will be named after late Lata Mangeshkar, who was born in Indore. A ‘Sangeet Mahavidyalaya’ near Chimanbagh will be expanded and named after late Lata Mangeshkar,” the CM said.
“Today, I want to announce that in the next 10 years, Indore will leave Bangalore and Hyderabad behind,” he said.
“We will also develop Indore as an IT Hub,” he said, adding that the proposed Economic Corridor and Startup Park on Super Corridor will further push the growth of Indore. “We will expand Pithampur industrial area till Depalpur on around 2,000 acres,” he said. During the event, Bollywood singer Shreya Ghoshal and lyricist Manoj Muntsir enthralled the audience of over 30,000 Indoreans with their performance. A laser show depicting life of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar was also stage and a song based on Indore released on the occasion.
